Ex VIRTUAL DUKE

A joint computer exercise with the Recce Squadrons of the Regiment and The British Columbia Dragoons was held at 39 Service Battalion in Richmond on 12/13 March 2016. OC Recce, Major Vince Virk, was the Commander of Ex Virtual Duke. Over 115 soldiers participated in the two day exercise. Summer’s minimal manning gives the Regiment’s members a chance to attend career and leadership courses at Canadian Force bases across Canada, while others may take the time to rest from the typically demanding responsibilities of a Primary Reservist. As we rolled in to October we started to look forward to the first Recce Exercise, Exercise Ferret Duke. The anticipation was high, with many newly qualified Troopers, Crew Commanders and both the Troop Leaders coming fresh off their course. Exercise Lynx Duke, The British Columbia Regiment’s last exercise of 2015 had them training in Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), Washington State. The men, spirited by an exciting training scenario, a continuation of exercise Ferret Duke. On Friday, March 22, 2013, at Rideau Hall, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada,  presented 1 Meritorious Service Cross (Military Division) and 33 Meritorious Service Medals (Military Division) to members of Canadian and allied forces. Lieutenant-Colonel (then Major) Sajjan received the MSM for his exemplary service in Afghanistan.
