Credits
- 4 Grade 10, 11
or 12 high school credits for completing Basic Recruiting Training

Reimbursement
- Available to all
members (non-commissioned and officers)
- Diploma, university
degree (including advanced degree studies).
- 50% re-imbursement
to a lifetime limit of $8,000. Available to full-time or part-time students
- Must attend regularly,
75% (3 out of 4 Thursdays, 3 out of 4 exercises), and have completed
their basic military training course
- Requires an interview
and program approval from the Brigade Personnel Selection Officer

Reserve Force Retirement
Gratuity
- Paid on release,
regardless of age
- For members with
10 years or more service, the gratuity is 3.5 days per year of service
(for example, a Sergeant with 10 years service would receive about $5000)
- For members with
20 years or more service, the gratuity is 7 days per year of service,
to a maximum of 210 days (for example, a Sergeant with 20 years service
would receive about $20,000)
- NES (Non-Effective
Strength) and ED&T (Excused Drill and Training) time is deducted
Can be transferred tax-free into an RRSP

Vacation Pay / Leave
- Annual Leave:
Reservists employed on full-time service for a period greater than 29
days are entitled to annual leave of two days for each consecutive 30
day period or completed month of paid service.
- Payment in Lieu
of Leave (PILL): Reservists employed on a part-time basis or on
full-time service of 29 days or less receive an additional 9% of gross
wages in lieu of leave.
Reserve Health Benefit Plan (Dental)
- If you are not
covered by another plan, you are eligible 3 months after joining the
Reserve
- Need to be in good
standing with the unit (attending regularly)
- 90% reimbursement
for many services
- 50% reimbursement
for orthodontics

Commuting Assistance
Compensation to help
defray costs for members who must commute more than 16km to the Drill
