ARMOURED RECONNAISSANCE

The role of an armoured reconnaissance unit is to provide a formation commander with tactical information on the opposing forces the modern three dimensional battle space. Reconnaissance has been described as the art of seeing without being seen. Reconnaissance soldiers are expected to possess a high degree of initiative, flexibility and endurance. They must be able to adapt to rapid changes in the tactical situation. The Regiment makes extensive use of communications equipment in all its operations. The Regiment currently utilizes the Iltis (a 4 wheel drive vehicle similar to a jeep) as a means of rapid mobility in the field.
